ITINERARY (tentative)

Fri. May 9:
Leaving Fredericton Frex parking lot at 6 AM we proceed up the Saint John River valley on one of the most picturesque drives in our part of this country we pass through the forests and farmlands through York and Carleton Co’s arriving at Woodstock Murrays, (Highway) for a quick comfort stop and border crossing review. Upon leaving Murrays we turn towards Houlton and upon arrival proceed to clear customs, (generally only about 20 mins). and then hit the I-95 southbound: next stop Dysarts near Bangor for a comfort stop and pickup a coffee etc.
After this brief stop we will continue heading south on I-95 until we reach Portland ME where we take a lunch break for about 1 hr. Good food court at the Maine Mall that has clean restrooms and a good variety of food to get us around Boston on I-495 till we arrive at our next scheduled stop at a rest area on I-90 and then after a brief comfort stop its back on the bus and very soon we swing south on I-84 with Hartford in our destination view. Here we will spend the night arriving at approx.. 5PM at the Hilton Garden Inn in Glastonberry CT which is conveniently adjacent to a great variety of food choices + a good restaurant in the complex so you can relax and enjoy the pool etc. Remember that 6 AM breakfast comes quickly.

Sat. May 10:
Breakfast (provided) starts at 6AM and the Bus departs at 7 AM. After a good breakfast we head west to I-84 traveling completely across the state of Connecticut on a quiet and peaceful Saturday morning skirting completely around Hartford (the Insurance Capital of the world) when their notorious traffic is at its very best. Continuing west to our first comfort stop just after entering New York state at the Fishkill rest area, just prior to crossing the mighty Hudson River at Newburgh. While on the bridge if you look closely out the left side you might see the famous West Point Military Academy. Continuing to head west towards the state of Pennsylvania we will begin to notice the hills of the Adirondacks in the distance and where we will be travelling much of the day, with our next stop for lunch being in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre PA at approx 11:30 AM before the lunch crowd takes over, for a good lunch, nothing like a Cracker Barrel for noon lunch on a Saturday. After a great meal we switch to I-476, part of the Penn Turnpike network 1.5 hrs. over a lot of hills with some amazing views as we climb higher and then we cross from the northern (coal mining) area of PA we quite suddenly drop out of the hills into the fertile farming area of southern PA in Allentown. Here we transfer onto US-222 heading for Lancaster PA and Bird in Hand, our home for 3 nights, arriving midafternoon. After we check into the popular Bird in Hand Family Inn we get to enjoy their Famous Smorgasbord for supper and then off to the world famous Sight & Sound Theatre that evening. Then it’s back to the Bird in Hand for the first of our 3 nights to rest and relax while taking in the Amish country life.

Sun. May 11:
7:00 – 9:00 AM -Breakfast Buffett (provided) Waking early you can view the amazing Amish Country through the early morning mist where today we will be relaxing all day experience the pool the shops and lunch at the adjacent cafes and markets nearby, perhaps you can persuade our tour host to show you the inside of some of the best shopping in the area. (does the word “Tanger” mean anything?) but this is a sit back and relax day as the Inn has 2 pools, mini golf maybe u would like to feed the ducks and geese, or just watch the buggies as they clip clop by.

Mon. May 12:
Breakfast Buffett (provided) starts at 7:AM today no need to check out as we will be staying another night, with a private tour scheduled today and a special meal provided plus lots of time again to appreciate the Land of The Amish. shopping in Intercourse (Kitchen Kettle Village) where an authentic buggy ride can be arranged if you want.

Tues. May 13:
The day starts off bidding good bye to Bird in Hand but first to start our day off right with another complimentary buffet breakfast at the hotel from 7:00AM. And then departing 8:00 with a pre-loaded bus because we want to allow plenty of time to experience “Monticello” one of the most popular “Southern Mansions” in the whole region. our attraction today on our way to spend the evening in Richmond VA arriving in time at the Drury for “kick back”

Wed. May 14:
The day dawns like most spring days in “the south” as we are again experiencing a complimentary delicious breakfast at the Drury preparing for a leisurely 5 hr. drive to the BEACH and not just any beach but rather one of the most popular beaches on the east coast, Myrtle Beach!. Arriving early afternoon. After lunch and check in at The Dayton House Resort in your Beach Front Room take the rest of the day to experience one of the best beaches on the eastern seaboard, but…don’t eat too much because tonight we will be celebrating a birthday and y’all are invited to come with us, dining at World Famous “The Original Benjamins Calabash Seafood Buffett” claimed to be the “best in Myrtle Beach” and up and down the east coast, but don’t worry if fresh seafood is not your “thing” .. “Along with seafood they also feature a full spread of Southern favorites. From fried chicken and mashed potatoes to their very own homemade Mac and cheese, you’re sure to find what you’re craving”. Guaranteed not to leave hungry and only a short ride back to our beachfront resort for a full day tomorrow at the beach, and a concert at The Carolina Opry,

Thurs. May 15:
Breakfast from 7:00 till 9:00 (provided) Lunch and dinner are on your own. This is a beach day for you to do as you want but make sure you are back by 6PM As we have tickets to the Carolina Opry and the show starts at 7PM. Departure time from our beach front resort will be announced that day.

Fri. May 16:
Another buffet breakfast from 7 till 8:30 because today we have a 2 hr. barefoot cruise scheduled at 10. The bus departs at 9 AM, lunch of your choice after the cruise while strolling the Marshwalk. Lunch and dinner will be on your own and at 7 PM another (show) at the Carolina Opry and back to the Resort (maybe for all the lovebirds, a romantic Moonlight Walk is in the making)?

Sat. May 17:
7:00 till 9:00 AM Breakfast (provided) at the hotel This day is scheduled for a total Beach Day allowing the time to return to the places you saw previously but didn’t have time to “experience”. A great time to check out the Boardwalk adjacent to the resort, maybe an afternoon trip to the local Factory Outlet Mall for those that are needing a shopping fix. Tomorrow we head for Pigeon Forge TN for 2 nights of Smoky Mtn fun.

Sun. May 18:
Day dawns early with a Complimentary breakfast getting us prepared for early morning travel today to Pigeon Forge as we continue our MMB Experience while experiencing the beauty of the Smoky Mtns. crossing over them and dropping into the valley to stay in the “forge” for 2 nights at the Willow Brook Lodge on the Parkway right in the center of Pigeon Forge. Tonight, we will be having some laughs at The Comedy Barn where you will experience the best “Family Entertainment” in the whole south.

Mon. May 19:
The day arrives as a beautiful spring morning with amazing views of the Great Smoky Mtns., as we begin our day in one of our favorite places. With Breakfast available at 7AM (provided) and the whole day to spend as u wish, there is shopping, attractions many within a short walking distance and for those that want to travel a little further the trolley system stops directly in front of your hotel and it will take u basically anyplace in Pigeon Forge with a side trip to Gatlinburg if u desire. There are all kinds of great places to eat, but this is a warning …. Tonight, we are going to Dolly Parton’s famous dinner show, the Dixie Stampede, the food is delicious, and you need to be hungry! Because this is a FEAST!

Tues. May 20:
Our journey back to reality begins
Breakfast starts at 6 AM (provided) Bus departs at 7AM giving us time to make happy hour at one of our fav hotels, the Best Western Premier Hotel and Conference Center in Harrisburg, the state capital of PA. We plan to be there at 5:30 PM to check in and enjoy this great hotel. As part of the complex, it has an attached restaurant (pub style) that has a great menu and excellent food.

Wed. May 21:
Another travel day with a 7AM breakfast (buffet style provided in the restaurant) and departing at 8AM
Today we retrace some of our steps (subject to traffic conditions) with regular comfort stops and lunch stop at Danbury Fair Mall in Danbury CT with destination being Best Western Plus in Portsmouth NH.

Thus May 22:
Last day on the road breakfast 7AM Coupons provided by hotel departure at 8:30 comfort stop at and last meal together at 11:30 at Dysarts in Bangor. Arrival time should be at 5PM local time at Frex parking lot where we boarded just 13 days ago, and it just seems like yesterday.
